Forza Kuwait

kuwaiti with some free time and much internet browsing

. . .

Free but good ?

August 28, 2006

I think the Internet has made a lot of software better

from the days where you get some free program on a disk from a magazine you buy , now you can find program that rivial those from big name companies

Since my Anti virus program that came with the PC expired i wanted another one , one option was to just get a cracked one
but i didn’t feel like getting a cracked anti virus program

after i asked around in the net i found this
AVG been using for a year now and every thing is good , its free , it update daily
and it doesn’t consume your PC resources like others Anti virus program

2 weeks ago i wanted a program to deal with document , and i didn’t have MS office with me , did some searching and found
ABiword its easier , it can run all MS word document , it even have spell check
yet you don’t wait for 10 days for it to load

not to mention FireFox

Enjoy !

  1. Man, free open source software is rocking the pants off of commercial software!

I’m telling you, I’m using Ubuntu right now, and I don’t think I can switch back again to Windows anymore unless it’s gaming or music.

I actually might try to join an open source project myself.

  2. Very true.. these days you can pretty much find what ever you want online and use it after looking for reviews. I have been pretty happy Kaspersky Anti-Virus, and its pretty light in comparison to Norton Anti-virus!

  3. Try this link

    http://www.faststone.org

It has 4 nice and free programs

p.s. They had a nice browser too, but for some unknown reason they decided to remove it
