lossing faith in newspapers in kuwait ..
August 31, 2007
this isn’t my first time writing about newspapers in Kuwait , i believe them all to be bad
saddly everyday i see more proof of that
So now one of the local communication companies Wataniya ( that was bought by QTell a Qatari company ) cut all ad deals with one of the local newspapers ( Alwatan ) now alwatan are angry ( its after all ads lost ) they write a big headline demanding the government to intervene to strong arm the Qatari owners , not only that but they ran online polls and some of its writiers started asking people to drop Wataniya lines in favor of the other company ( MTC ) so the Kuwaiti pride can be restored .
Okay wait a second ! , Kuwait pride ? how is our pride hurt from one company not running ads on one newspaper ? we have over 6 now , so if AT&T didn’t run an ad on Washington post American pride is hurt ?
Not only that , but they forgot to mention one thing , Alwatan owner is also PART OWNER IN MTC !! and he doesn’t state that on the the article they wrote .
the
Editor in Chief is a member of the board in MTC
“Alwatan owner is also PART OWNER IN MTC !! and he doesn’t state that on the the article they wrote”
BINGO.

screw them both and yeah you lost your pride trying to defend a qatari owned company that sold out because it didnt want to pursue with kuwaiti pride that sound wrong but you know what I mean so stop trying to justify something that’s already true are you even a kuwaiti now

TAT
when a company move its headquarter to another country it become liable to that country headquarter
if MTC for example post a 300 million profit from all their operation they will pay it in Bahrain not Kuwait
the rules which MTC will follow in its shares and such will be Bahraini there for the company is identified as its headquarters

Quite convincing Forzaq8, as always. The way I see it and would put it in Al-Watan’s face:
1- Your comic about Qatar was not an opinion as you call it (not naqd) it was fun making
2- What did you expect if you make fun of the management? They will accept it gladly? I am not with Qataris, but if you were in their shoes you would be doing the same thing. You got yourself into it and now want the whole country to come for help.
3- Why do you think the relation between a company and newspaper become national issue? we should sell our stocks so that we pressure Wataniya to put their ads in your newspaper? And then what? Are you gonna buy us back our stocks?
4- If Al-Watan is so concerned about the freedom of (naqd) and opinion in newspaper, where were you one week back when two news editors were captured, jailed, one of them beaten and forced to sign papers without seeing them. Was not that a slap in the face of word freedom?
But no, you chose your side, and now you want us to be on your side.
Thanks for the post ForzaQ8. I had to let go my mind here.

Al-Watan is a piece of crap
MTC is a piece of crap
And the people who own them are crap
I’m with MTC and I haven’t been using my phone all day due to network and connection problms. And when I do get through I can’t hear, or it gets cut off! So why on Earth wouldn’t I be more than glad to go Wataniya all the way. Screw “Kuwaiti pride” if thats what Kuwaiti is - not fulfilling my money’s worth and expected services.
The neverending problems I have with MTC is stressing me out. And I’m the type of person who hardly stresses out about anything!
