What is wrong with United States Embassy in Kuwait ?
October 28, 2009
I’m not sure what the problem with them is, but they act undiplomatic
First they host an Unlawful event
as the event organizer posted at mark blog
[Link]
The event is a car customizing contest for the best styled cars in Kuwait and it is hosted by SAMCO and in collaboration with the US Embassy and the Ambassador Ms. Deborah Jones will be hand picking this year the winner, runner up and third place position.
The event is about Car customizing, which is BANNED under Kuwaiti law ( i don’t care if it is reasonable or right , I’m talking about now )
*
Article 36 of Traffic laws
121 Adding Extra Parts to the main Vehicle parts
154 Putting Writing
155 Putting Stickers
Just to name a few
And now the 2009 Report on International Religious Freedom [Link] Is released and they name one writers as a holocaust denier, really? Is that what the Embassy does? Check every columnist and see what they say?
Why would they care if he was a denier or not ? its not a crime in the USA as far as i know
You know what would be the best responce ? Host that writer at an event in the Kuwait Embassy in Washington DC ! yeah take that !

I agree and disagree with you on a few things! I agree that what the Embassy is doing is useless and when it counts they do things against us..
I think this event did some good, and hopefully makes things more flexible, its just a hope that those laws will change! The definition is so broad that you have no other way to apply them! These laws are their for safety, if its cosmetic then I think they shouldn’t bother the person even if its ugly!

call your MP to enforce the ministry to change the laws, making these events isn’t going to make the ministry flexible

“Location: U.S. Embassy Kuwait”
The US embassy doesn’t have to implement Kuwait’s Law within its premises, nor does any other embassy. It’s the Kuwait law enforcement government bodies who are responsible for that, and in this case it’s the Kuwaiti Police.
Take an example of a driver who’s drinking from an unmistakable bottle of alcohol while driving, and he’s drunk. He passes by some police cars on his way to embassy X and the police officers do nothing. He enters the premises of embassy X and keeps drinking there.
Now, do we blame the embassy or the police?

just a correction:
It’s the Kuwait law enforcement government bodies who are responsible for that OUTSIDE THE PREMISES OF ANY EMBASSY, and in this case it’s the Kuwaiti Police.

in your example the Embassy wasn’t the one asking the man to commit his crime
the American Embassy asked the MoI for parade License
