Arab Zombies

February 5, 2007

If you play Video games or watch movies you must of heard of the word Zombie

A Zombie is purportedly a dead person whose body has been re-animated. [Wikepedia]

You have seen them on Video Games like Resident Evil and Rising Dead and movies like Resident Evil , Army of Darkness & Evil Dead series

Now You wonder why i’m talking about this , well i went to kuwait stock market today to finish some papers and i saw couple of people who walk around like zombies

Which brought up the idea , do arab mythology has zombies ? i never read about it before , and what would we call them ?
Not only that , but if English zombies call out for Brains ” braiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnns ” what would the arab ones call for ?

zombie1.jpg

What if there was a Zombie outbreak in kuwait ? are we Ready for something like that ? is our Police Force / Army Trained on Dealing with zombies ?

Freej-Gate !

December 21, 2006

I don’t know about most of you readers , but most of my family watched Freej , the Cartoon from Dubai TV
and they liked it , and where impressed by how Emirates people did that

Well it seem it wasn’t Full Emiraty thing as they claim

DataQuest

UTV Toons is currently executing projects such as “Tripping the Rift”, a popular animated sitcom in the US, “Magic Cellar” for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, and “Freej” the first animation project funded by Dubai’s media city.

AnimationXpress

So what does the current slate look like?
Currently we are working on 15 Direct to home Movies for the North American market. These DVDs are all outsourced assignments and the deadline for completion is September 2007. The current output is 150 minutes of animation a month and the plan is to double that soon. We are also doing a 104 episode TV Series for a Holland based company
as well as Freej a Series of seventeen short episodes of 15 minutes each for Dubai Media City telecast on Dubai City.

It seem dubai TV did the voice over :p

Fight of The TV channels

November 13, 2006

Even when a good thing happen , it has to happen in a bad way in the Arab world

TV channels fighting for rights and programs in good , thats why you get a better quality programs in the USA , and part of why NBA and NFL can pay high $$ for players , you see how much a 30 second ad on NFL final Cost ? a lot

Now here in the Arab world we imported this thing , we have channels like ART , AlJazeerah Sport , Showtime sport , Orbit and other local channels and they fight for TV rights to prodcast world sport events and league like the Italian league and English league

This should be good right ? that mean if anyone want it they have to improve rigth ?
nope

and not only that , in the USA if for some reason ESPN lost NFL prodcast right and lets say HBO won it , what do you if you don’t have HBO ? call the cable company and ask them to HBO , problem solved

But here in Kuwait what you had to do when Abu Dhabi lost right for Italian league and Aljazeera got it ?
You had one of two choices
1- buy Aljazeerah Card
2- Buy Art Card and Add Aljazeerah on it

and since the world cup was coming i went with two and paid for a 6 month in advance for both channels ( ART made you pay 6 month in advance for world cup )

And you what happened 2 month later ( and before Italian league start ) ? Art sent me an SMS telling me that Aljazeerah are no longer with them and i can use the money i payed for Aljazeerah for months I’m not getting on another ART channel or make it a down payment for more months with art sport ! i still didn’t do that , the phone there does answer and its a hell of drive there ( and parking is hell )

Then they publish an AD in the newspaper that if you want Aljazeerah you can get it free with Showtimes , 2 weeks later Showtimes middle East ( the on in Dubai ) call and ask if i have any problem , i tell them yeah i didn’t get ALjazeerah Sport
he tell me i have to upgrade to Movie Package ( i have Sport Package and no ALjazeerah sport , oh the irony )
of course i didn’t , i don’t watch TV that much and Showtimes movies are going to Waste
( if it wasn’t for my father watching Discovery and my brother watching sitcoms sometimes i would have canceled it long ago )

So now I’m left with getting Aljazeerah Card , I’ll End up with AlJazeerah Card and ART sport Card

Now report are saying that Art Sport aren’t going to cover English League , great just great

The Punisher Extended Cut DVD

November 6, 2006

I was Reading about it and found this small information , this look intersting

Lionsgate has provided The Continuum with images from the upcoming The Punisher Extended Cut DVD, due in stores on Nov. 21.

In addition to 17 minutes of new footage integraed into the film, The Punisher Extended Cut also includes a unique extra — an animated version of “The Kuwait Scene,” which was originally slated to open the film but was never shot due to budgetary constraints.

Illustrated by The Punisher cover artist Tim Bradstreet, the impressionistic action sequence stars Thomas Jane and Russell Andrews. Viewers will have the option of playing the animation before the picture begins so the scene can be appreciated within its original planned context.
