Chromecast

So I bought a chromecast

And i cost 35$

So what you get for 35$ ?

From left to right , micro USB cable , HDMI extender , Chromecast , power adapter

As you can see , you can either connect it using USB or the power adapter , I went with the USB

Next you need to install chromecast app , and this happened

Couple minutes on VPN as and it was installed , ran setup and it running fine

What can it do ?

So far there are three app that are connected to it
YouTube , Netflix , Google play movies

You pick the YouTube / Netflix /movie in you mobile or laptop and send it to the chromecaster which would stream it , not from you but from the internet

Pro’s :
* cheap ( 35$ cheaper than most other TV adapters )
* You can queue videos to play one after the other

Con’s :
* its built for american market , either you use VPN or you miss out
* doesn’t play videos or picture’s from your mobile
* There is master or lock Down , if you have the app on your mobile , you can add and remove video’s so you have four clients setup for the chromecaster ? ANARCHY !!

TV series : Omar

I normally do not watch TV in Ramadan , very poor Arabic drama
but this Ramadan i watched ( online ) the new series Omar , about the second caliph Omar Ibn AlKatab from MBC & Qatar Tv
( they have it on youtube channel and their site [Arabic][Arabic with English sub] )

So after i watched the whole series , i think its one great series , yes its not as good as some HBO series , but remembering this is a 30 episode series and not just a limited series , and its very close to the quality

It does have some drawbacks

– Some Fight scene ( Swords or elephants ) aren’t done very good , most are good , but they need more practice
– Sometimes they use voice over , and you can notice it , not sure why sometimes they do use it
– The Series has to much characters , you will get confused sometimes
– The scenes with the prophet ( peace be upon him ) just stall , and dampen the flow, some actors look shocked to act to a camera

The good
– It does seem to stick to the books , as an avid reader i saw some stuff missing , which is acceptable since this is about Omar not the other characters , but nothing much added
– they try to sneak in couple of good advice from time to time ( kind like a Public service announcement )

How good i think the series is ?
after i watched it all online , i’m waiting for the DVD / Blu-ray , that is how good is it

Analyzing Ramadan 2011 TV ad : Qualitynet

I think a lot have seen the New Qualitynet Ad for Ramadan

What it seem is that Qualitynet have no idea what they paid for , first its not an ad for their service , the director was going for a comedy sketch , not to mention it show Qualitynet service as bad

lets dissect this ad

First guy ask his maid to Make an Egg-omelette for him and what does she says ( while clicking on the laptop )
“We don’t have ” ” ماكو ”

What is she is “We don’t have ” , not i don’t want to , but we don’t have
So they are missing something to make Egg-omelette
and since the maid is internet Savvy , she can use Laptop , she was going to order egg
but since the man seem to be in the mood of Youtube he blow all his bandwith cap and she couldn’t reach taw9eel Page

This guy is working in a company ( clear from the setting ) , and he says the project is finished and he keep on asking for more time to send it to the other guy
Well
Qualitynet introduced Smart connection for businesses [AlQabas][Arabic]
So this guy is suffering

Now this is a student , who is trying to access his e-mail but can’t , and keep asking his private tutor for a bit more time
So its slow for him also , AKa he has slow Service

And before you say maybe that is them suffering before , no at the end of the AD , they all appear and say
“Our Speed is Qualitynet , nothing is like it ”

So to recap
The Director made a Couple short comedy sketch’s
The Ad tell us Qualitynet services are bad
The Ad tell us people in Kuwait don’t care about bad service they are still happy

Well , I believe everyone saw Writing History AD for Nike ( for you who didn’t check it at youtube linked below )

Anyway , Who were on the Video as Stars ?
Didier Drogba ,Fabio Cannavaro ,Wayne Rooney ,Cristiano Ronaldo & Ronaldinho
whats common between them all ? they all failed their teams and their team exited the World Cup without Writing anything in History
( Drogba & Cannavaro exited first stage , Ronaldo & Rooney next stage , Ronaldinho wasn’t in the Squad ! )

Now can we say the add Jinxed their performance ? we may not know , until Messi die of food poisoning from KFC then it will be conformed 🙂
